Planning to go to BAQ in the next couple of months.

NOT including hotel costs, or flight costs...

How much should I expect to spend per day for dates, transportation (buses, taxis), food, cell phone usage etc.Huh

I am primarily interested in a ballpark "per day" cost that would include all of the above... of course if you have specifics, I'll take that, too :-)

Gracias

when i was in barranquilla in jan, this is more or less what some things cost me:

cell phone activation: $10 for SIM card plus $20 for a 50,000 peso prepaid card. calls made to another cell or a landline comes out to about 1,000pesos/minute,at the time they were doubling the minutes so instead getting 50 minutes i got almost 100. i got it through comcel and calls to other comcel users are about 300pesos/minute,also remember that you get charged for outgoing calls NOT incoming. my girlfriend had comcel so my minutes weren't used up as quickly.

movies, i noticed that at the theatre where EXITO is, there are different prices for different days, anywhere from 4,000($2) to 10,000($5) pesos per ticket, very affordable and this may be the case in other theaters.

taxis are a minimum of 4,000 pesos(about $2), more depending on distance. we took the bus a few times, i wanted to experience the city like the locals and my girlfriend didn't want me spending so much on taxis, buses are about 1,000/pesos per person and during the day are safe, at night we always cabbed it.

food, well i did invite her family for lunch twice, there were 7 of us, although i don't remember the exact amount it wasn't more than $50, in a nice place with drinks. like everything there are expensive places and more affordable ones, my girlfriend always suggested the afforable places that had great food and surroundings, she wasn't out to waste my money, she was always looking out for me. we usually had breakfast and lunch at her home, sometimes dinner too since i wanted to know her family and vice versa, sometimes we would just eat something lite for dinner, lunch was always a huge meal.

i'll be in barranquilla in a few weeks so i'll post again with any updates
