Surprisingly that sounds about right depending on the position.  One lady friend works 5 ˝ days per week and grosses 400,000 pesos.  A nurse in Bogotá I know receives the equivalent of $600 per month.  The highest paid woman I met was a patent attorney who got around $1600 per month.

After reading Pete's post, that nurse I know may have been receiving 600,000 pesos per month and not dollars.

I would think wages in Bogota have to be higher than in Cali.  Also it depends how much goods and services cost; just dollar figures mean nothing.  When I was in Ecuador, I had good meals in restaurants for less than $2.

In Bogota, professionals (those with college degrees and classified as professional) make about $500-600 US a month with a good job.

Those with technical degrees make about $150 US

Of course these are based on my conversations (limited) with women in Bogota.

Here is a link to the CIA factbook on Colombia. It is interesting to note that 55% live below poverty.
