O.K. Here is one I have found interesting. If any of you guys with wives feel like it let them post to this.
What are the general opinions on mens hair in various L.A. countries?
I hear a lot of talk about crew cuts however I lived in Panama several times, the first was for 5 years straight and I had long hair (past the bottom of my shoulder blades) but that was in the 70's and everybody knew me anyway. The rest was mostly U.S. Army time and so short hair. Time in South and Central America was usually contract work i.e. NO funtime and was either short hair or shaved head time for me.
So...whats current? Or as current as you can remember if you have not been back in awhile.
What about beards?

Obviously the trend for latinos in SA is the conservative short cut.  I was surprised about a single CaleƱa's comment the other day however about a group of young gringos she considered "bien guapo".  They had those short sloppy cuts where the hair is kind of gelled in every direction - so I guess anything currently in "fashion" like off the cover of GQ would work - go figure.

Beards generally are not liked. The women I met in SA told me I looked much better without it. They like a "clean" look, but a moustache is fine.

My goatee never seemed to hurt me there, always plenty of positive attention from the opposite sex. I believe they do think of it as a gringo thing however, you don't see the local men with beards, etc.
