... in response to Re: Colombian Independence Day,event in ..., posted by Pete E on Jul 20, 2003When I first signed my wife up for English classes years ago, I recall the school administrator commenting, oh, she's from COLOMBIA - when I asked why she heavily accentuated "Colombia" so (my intitial thought was oh great - the drug thing), her response was it's just that all the Colombians they'd had in the school were an extremely proud bunch and got alot of respect from fellow students there.
Speaking of English classes, in Dallas we're fortunate to have several very reputable schools. I can't say that she learned that much English, but the networking was great. Not only did she meet other latinas married to gringos here in Big D - but she made friends with some very interesting folks from all over the world that were here on student visas (including some sons/daughters of royalty). I would have never thought that marrying a Colombiana would result in trips to places like Lebanon!
