I think the board is in mourning over the death of the all-time champion cradle robber, Strom Thurmond, who at age 65 married a 21 year old beauty queen.

I thought that Jerry Lee Lewis was the champ... Well, at least Strom Thurmond waited until she was 21...

I checked and it appears that Jerry Lee Lewis was 23 and his bride was 13.  Now in terms of the youth of the woman, Jerry Lee wins, but in terms of the age spread, he's not even in the same league with Strom.

Ole Strom is not the clear winner!

Sir Hyde Parker, a British naval admiral of the late 18th and 19th century was 62 when he married for the second time in 1801 and his bride was 18 years old! That's a 44 year spread.  Parker was the "nominal" commander in chief of the British naval fleet during Lord Nelson's victory against Denmark in 1801.  His young bride was referred to by the fleet (not too respectfully) as "Parker's batter pudding."  So I think he ties "ole Strom" for age difference but definitely gets a some extra dirty old man points because his wife was only 18 and Strom never married anyone under 21.  On the other hand, Parker's bride came from a very wealthy family, so "ole Hyde warn't no fool."

What was the agr spread between Anna Nicole Smith and her "old man."

I am leaving Bogota tomorrow, the last few days have been great, will go to Catagena for a week, and will have a trip report in the next few days.

Adios

I did some quick research, Anna Nicole Smith married oil tycoon J. Howard Marshall II in 1994, she was 27 and he was either 87 or 89, at least 60 years her senior.  So the new age spread number to beat is 60 or 62 years.

Dominguin,

You've been down there a long time.  I'm jealous...when are you heading back?  I will be sure to call you when you return home.  Have a great time the rest of your stay.

As of now, I expect to be back in Oregon on the 7th of July.
I'm in Cartagena, for a history buff like me, what a great place!  Dominguin

Some of these other marriages there might be some attraction other than the $$$.Anna Nicole,it was old geezer,go for the $$$.But---,she new what she was doing and so did he I think.Better than leaving it to some spoiled sniveling kids. The kids ,step sons I think, did contest the will and lost.
And,if she didn't marry the guy she would not have nearly the name recognition.Fat former playmates are not a big item normally.
And,if the chick is just going for the $$$,the older the better, the sooner you get the $$$.
There was magazine advertisement a couple of years ago.It shows this 90 year old or so with his hot young bride in her wedding dress. He is saying "she is after me for my money.Like I care."
Real world,Cali Colombia,I know a lady who's first husband was 46 years older than her.I can see 30 years maybe working. 21 $51? 29 & 59?
I was 56 when I married my then 33 year old wife.I had 27 year olds who wanted me,and thats as young as I shopped.
I remember dating a 20 year old when I was 35 here and that seemed like a big age difference at the time,But then at 20 she couldn't get in most bars.

Pete:

Anna Nicole was a stripper here in Houston when she met her sugar daddy, oil baron, dead, ex-husband... All I can say is that this guy was STUPID with a captial "S"... He couldn't even get it up and we ALL know the quality of Anna Nicole's acting abilities... Many think he was just trying to screw his kids out of their inheritance... Sad part was he didn't even get to die with a smile on his face... ;-(

His first wife was 23 years younger than him.  Maybe that's why he lived to 100.  His 29 year old son was recently hired as a U.S. attorney.
