I'm going teh K1 route this time and would like clarity on the process.  The initial application does not have you file your Affidavid of Support.  When does this and bank statements come into the picture?

thanks,

Ken

You can file an affidavit of support with the initial application but it is not required. I filed one with mine. Bank statements come into play when your fiancé goes for her interview at the embassy. I submitted my last months checking account statement, but I don't think you need it if you work fon and employer. I believe if you are self employed your proof of income will entail more proof but I know what is needed in the Bogota embassy. 3 years of tax returns with W-2's.

My fiance arrived here last week from Cali. I can tell you that I was prepared for all events except the one I'm dealing with. I call it the Deer in the Headlight syndrom. My fiancé was not prepared for the culture shock, to the degree she is experiencing especially the language barrier out in public. She's been sitting on the couch for 3 days with a bad cold speechless. She cannot handle air-conditioning espically in stores. All this and I live in Florida. I could only wonder if you live in the North.

I can tell you that there is a lot to chew on when Calipro decided to leave his new novia in Cali.

Do not underestimate the Calenas inability to cope with a range of temperatures, including those caused by air conditioning.  For the first few months, I heard incessant complaining that it was either too hot or too cold.  My observation that I couldn't control the weather didn't seem to help.  Finally, I started to look at the CNN weather site for Cali every day and would point out to her those occasions when the temperatures were the same or similar. I also noted every day when it rained there.  She finally tired of this activity and the complaining stopped.
