Hi!
I plan to leave in 3 weeks for Peru.  I figured the women I
meet would like it if I brought them a small gift.  Anyone have
any suggestions for something small (easy to fit into a carryon
bag) that Latina women would like (other than flowers) for a
first date?  And do most of you bring them some type of gift on
a first date?  Any suggestions greatly appreciated!

As a rule, I rarely give a gift on a 1st date, unless it's the 1st time meeting a woman I've been corresponding with a while.

I've gotten good results from small stuffed animals & T-shirts; these are also easy to pack. Always go for cute over quirky, unless you know her tastes. Chocolates are fine, too, although they can also be bought in-country.

If you're going to meet someone you've been corresponding with, ask her what she likes, her favorite animal, color, etc.

Suerte...

I wouldn't give a gift to a woman on the first date and I don't think that it will be expected. So if you give them a gift I think they will be some what surprised. If that is what you want to do, I would suggest you buy them something funny or a conversation piece and nothing at all serious. How about waiting until the third date and then taking her out to buy her something she really wants. At that point I am sure you would have a much better chance of having the gesture being reciprocated.

Did you/she just gradually lose interest, and the she went with relatives or a friend?

She lives here in Phoenix with her new husband. He is a few years younger than me but I would say I'm in better shape.
