My last novia turned out to be a lazy gold digger. I have been speaking daily with another women who I was dating in December in Cali. We went out about 8 times. I am 44 she is 31. She is strikingly beautiful but shy and definetly not an easy "conquest". This is probably good, indicating she has a deeper character and more to offer than just her body. The last novia took me to bed the second time I saw her. If they do that with me so easily than they probably do it with many other guys which is not a good thing for a woman you are looking to marry. I talk with my new girl friend every other day on the phone and we email several times a week. I am traveling to Cali in June to get to know her better. Currently I have nothing serious with this women and I have not done anything intimate with her. I asked her if there is anything she would like me to bring her from the states when I visit her in Cali in 2 weeks and she asked for a pair of Nike shoes. How do I know this woman is not another gold digger. At least this woman works 10 hours a day, six days a week and helps out her family and does not have a maid. She fits prosthesis to people who have lost limbs. Isn't cheaper to buy her the Nike shoes in Cali? What if they don't fit right?

I bought American Nike aerobic shoes for my novia.  I also bought her an American Brand backback to put her stuff in.  These are two good relatively inexpensive gifts that mean alot in Colombia, because in Colombia they can only got shoddy brand substitutes for these products.

I would not assume the worst.  You did ask her if she wanted anything, and she gave you an answer that is all..  Also, take a small present that she is not expecting, like ear rings with her birth stone.

Nike shoes bought in Colombia are not the same that Nike shoes bought in the USA. I don't think she is a gold digger because she asked you for a pair of Nike shoes, but after your first experience, if I were you, I would go to an agency and meet other women.

Hey There El C,

Good to hear you're coming around again.  Actually, if you find a good sale, the shoes are actually less expensive in the states than in Cali.  I often take back Reebocks, Nikes, etc. back as gifts.  The sales prices in the US are usually better, especially if you're buying a closeout or last years models.  Good luck with this gal. -Thundernco

Got some for my wife at the Santa Barbara Mall in Bogota last Christmas, no problem.  I bought her a pair in the states but they were the wrong size, so we went to the mall and got the right size and then I returned the other Nikes when I got home.  The price was about the same as the states, maybe a little cheaper.

Are you confident they were real Nikes?  Especially, if they were cheaper than the US.  Counterfeiting of goods is widespread in Colombia.  For example, vendors on the street will sell you cheap copies of any of the books you can buy in the bookstores for about 1/3 the price.

Yeah I am sure.  I didn't buy them on the street but at the very upscale Santa Barbara mall.

Forget the shoes.  Even if she gives you her shoe size in Colombia it will be different here in the US.

Try not to psyco-analyze these women to much. They are all gold diggers to some extent. Just like we guys are shallow and really only interested in attractive women.

I know a woman here in the US that became a nurse just so she could meet and marry a doctor.Hows that for a gold digger. Well she met a doctor and she married him and they have been happily married for over ten years now.

Everybody is looking for something. If we guys were not so shallow as to want a beautiful wife and the longevity of the relationship was really our made goal, we would all be married to nice plup 30 something year old american women.

And another thing, I don't want to tell you what to do but I would never go down to Cali just to see one woman if we were not already in an intimate relationship. I suggest that you go to one of the marriage agencies as soon as you get in town.

I'll be in Cali on the 26th of June.
