I noticed today on oanda the interbank rate is 2798.10 for the peso to the dollar. Yet El Pias has it as 2620.00, usually they are the same. Maybe el pais wants positive news for the holidays. Is anyone there that can comment. jim c

I have averaged about $2770.00 using my Visa checkcard, which is far better than Titan is buying dollars, about $2550.00 pesos per dollar.  I went to sell my dollars on Christmas eve in El Centro and no-one was buying.  There was an overwhelming demand for giros being sent from the states.

I've been comparing my atm debits to the rate posted in El Tiempo and I seem to get about twenty six pesos less than the posted rate. I haven't tried multiple withdrawels in one day for fear my card will get nervous and edgy and just shut down, it's happened, but I wonder if I would get different rates throughout the day.

You get the same rate all day.

I use Servibanca, because it lets you take out 500,000 per withdrawal.

Servibanca is the green ATM.

Just lifted this from today's online El Tiempo. Anybody know what the letters 'TRM' mean?
Dólar (TRM) :   2.854,29  pesos
Compra:    2.620,00  pesos
Venta:   2.665,00  pesos

So, you have been getting 26 less than which rate? I got 2700 even when I sent a giro last week.

My guess would be "tasa representiva mediano" or something like that. I've been getting on average about 26 pesos less than the TRM posted in El Tiempo and El Pais.

Hey Jim,

I pulled 300,000 pesos out on Friday at 2796.15 per dollar with my ATM card. I'm getting more money out tomorrow so if it changes I'll let you know.
