... in response to 2 lbs/inch, posted by JBP on Jun 15, 2001

Yes, right on! Your "rule of thumb" for a 5'2 woman (124 lbs) gives a BMI (body mass index) of 22. Any BMI between 18 and 25 is considered "normal weight" from a physician's point of view. For tall women (above 5'7) your formula would actually be a bit on the lean side ;-)

I use the 1.5 pound per inch of height rule for women myself. But I prefer to use my body fat percentage scale and/or fat caliper and calculator to account for increased muscle mass of some women. Without these tools I am forced to eyeball her. Then I run them through the Combat Challenge physical agility test. After that, I put them through an hour or two of PT daily. For myself, I like to stick to a muscular 3.0 pounds per inch rule. Oh sorry...I was talking about women recruits that I used to train, not women I dated. ;o))) Although my ex-wife had 6% body fat. I never had trouble starting an IV on her.

A little meat on the bones is a good thing, BUT...CELLULITE is a big turn off to most guys. One reson a lot of men look to the Philippines for love is that most filipinas are not fat and age well, besides being so cute! he he he  Humabdos

I vote for boney.  I better like boney Shocked)  Men should go for what floats their boat, and I doubt the media has a big influence over their preference.  When you count the younger guys, I bet it's pretty much an even split.  For me, though, no sweathogs!

I admit that I'm more attracted to women on the heavyset-side rather than the skinny side.

Now, what is a Bombay duck?  Does it sneeze? (ha-ha)  Have you tried Bombay balut?  If you have, was it good?  (just joking - Quack, quack, quack!).

Sorry Carrisse,

I can't back you up on this. I am a whippet man myself. In fact, I used to show and still own Italian greyhounds (smaller than whippets). I have always liked my ladies lean and mean. ;o))

There's a variety of men who like a variety of women!

No one woman can appeal to all men.

I am OK with that - but it took me a while to realize it, myself.

Katybird,

You are right! Men have different tastes in women. Women sometimes fool themselves into thinking that they can make any man find them attractive. The truth is, many men will forgo their preferences and shag anything, even if they find the woman totally repulsive.

It seems that in junior high, most of us boys liked the same one or two popular girls. By the end of high school, we had broadened our horizons and noticed other girls. We determined which part of the female anatomy, body type, and hair color we were most attracted to. It takes a few more years, if were lucky, to realize that we can actually communicate with women and find that some are actually quite interesting.

I'll take Marilyn Monroe's shape anytime over Gwinneth Paltrow's - but alas, neither have those dark Asian eyes and straight black hair!

Yes it is so! - it's a little (not so secret) secret of the fashion industry, that many of the male designers and fashion zars are homosexual, which may explain their infatuation with 6 feet tall poles. Anyway, some guys like it big, some like it small, some like it round, some like it flat. Same goes for breast size by the way.

In my experience, it is the women who worry about those things (and compare themselves among each other), not the guys.

I'm naturally thin. Although I lift weights to keep my curves firm, I've never been fat and I have absolutely no cellulite. Frankly, at 5'10" and 135lbs, I'm built like a model - but that, I am afraid, comes with small breasts! (Note: those models with big breasts have implants, guys. Sorry to burst your bubbles!)

You're right, though - I think it's true that guys prefer girls with flesh on them. It just has to be firm flesh, not saggy.

Women are taught that they're supposed to find fault with
their bodies, and I assure you that I do as much of that as
any other girl!

But, it's nice to find a feature or two to be proud of!

As far as a man's height - I only feel awkward if he's
significantly shorter than I

Hi Katy,

I was just joking.  When a woman puts up attractive stats, it's fun to watch the single guys make their move - nothing wrong with that!  I enjoy your posts, please keep them coming.
