What is the best way to start learning about the INS and VISA'S?

Chris,
 Type the words "immigration attorneys" into a search and you will find lots of sites. Many have general info contained in them like you are looking for. Also the INS has it's own site, try typing Immigration and Naturalization Service into search. There is also a site called Hyde's Visa Pages that is pretty good.
