Hi Peter,

Many Filipinos would like to visit America to see what it's like and visit Disney World. As for home, many prefer life in the Philippines. My sister-in-law lived with her husband in the Philippines for one year and prefered it. They have lived in the US for the past several years while he got his affairs in order. They will be moving back to the Philippines at the begining of 2004. My wife would rather earn $2-$4 a day or volunteer as a nurse and live in the Philippines. The only reason she is living here is because I am raising my sons who are still in school. We have future plans to live or at least spend a good part of the year in the Philippines in the near future.

Well Dave thanks for your thread.

I was there for 2 months this time and it grew on me.  I found a place I liked and thought about it again on the flight home.  But if I had kids like Louie and Ann in Panglao they wanted their kids raised in the PI.  I asked em why and Louie said that the school system will be more advanced by the time they go through grade school. The aditutdes were more family oriented the kids in the PI were generaly better behaved.  They didn't seem to have the drug problems either.  Collage time it would be the time to send them to the US.  I had the idea to buy a resort and spend some time there and here.  All the Philippine wives of the foreigners on Panglao that we chated with prefered to live in the PI.  The only hesitation I have is that I live in Daytona Beach nice warm sun and I like it.  At least now I like two places.

My wife said the same thing for the first few years she was here. After a while, though, she just adjusted to American life and feels so at home here now, I doubt she'd move back without some very compelling reason. It's funny, but she starts looking at Japan more like a giagin (outsider) than a native. I'm not saying this will happen to Marife, I'm just saying not to cast your plans in concrete yet. Give her 5 years or so.

Hi Jeff,

I'm thinking the same thing...but if one of those jackasses gets elected President, I'm going to be the one who wants to get out! ;o))) My plans are always flexible and won't be doing anything for the next 5 years or so.

Hey, Jeff,
A good point Jeff, my wife has not been back to the
P.I. since 1986. But we do have some plans to go
       this July.
