Now now Dave,
I would rather see em glued to a cell phone driving than reading the newspaper or using makeup in the rearview mirror.  Don't forget the guys eating a 3 course meal while arguing with his gf LOL

Hi Peter,

It's a very serious problem in South Florida! When many drivers are "glued to a cellphone," their brain is sucked out of their head and replaced with the contents of their bowels! These idiots almost crash into me on a daily basis. I am an EVOC (Emergency Vehicle Operators Course-Police, Fire, Ambulance) and defensive driving instructor or would likely have been creamed by now. As it stands, I have been forced off the road, into other traffic lanes and skidded numerous times. They are as bad as drunk drivers...probably worse since there are so many and they are off and on again. It leaves you little time to observe their actions and get the hell away from them. The "Number 1 Most Dangerous Intersection in the US" is 2 miles from my house. Many of these drivers are doing other "activities" as well as yaking on their cellphones. My oldest son and I were almost seriously injured or perhaps killed on Monday, by a lady who ran a red-light traveling at 60+ mph in a 40 mph zone. I saw her out of the corner of my eye, flying through an open lane between stopped cars in her Lincoln Navigator. Several cars had already passed through the intersection in front of us. I had to lock it up! She missed us by several feet. She never bothered to stop talking or even attempt to slow down or stop. It's a good thing I had already done my Qigong earlier...I was relaxed, alert, and not in the mood to shove a cellphone through someone's friggin' head. ;o)))

If you see a red 1990 Bronco weaving it could be me on the cell phone talking to my probation officer.  I got problems drinking beer when on the cell phone coz you can't do both.  My mom says it's ok to talk on the cell while driving if you got a big truck.  “Honk if you love Jesus”, bumper sticker helps me a lot. I get a lot of honks when on the phone so I know there are a lot of religious drivers out there. While on the cell phone I also get some Hawaiian good luck signs with the middle finger.  That makes Florida drivers friendly and religious.  Some of the problems I've had in the past was going through red lights and missing my turn off.  So now no matter whom I'm talking to just has to hold till I make the turn.  Other problems are when I'm really busy on the phone a car will try to sneak by and pass on the right.  I usual cut em off to teach em a lesson but have to put the phone down for a minute.  I don't know why but when I'm on the phone other drivers are so courteous they give me plenty of room in front and back of me.  They always make sure they honk the horn to let me know that they love Jesus when they pass.  Life is so wonderful and people are so courteous I have never had an accident but other drivers are not as skilled as me and they tell me of their near misses all the time.  Heavens, if we all talked on a cell phone while driving we could eliminate all accidents.  I noticed that the ambulance drivers make so much noise with their siren that it is hard to hear anyone on the cell phone.  But I have learned patience and count to 10 real slow when that happens.  I know you may not agree with some of my proven defensive driving methods, but I will fight for the right for you to have your opinion.
Love to all Peter Lee Honk Honk

Hey Peter,

Just a bumper sticker? Man, you are spoiled up there in Daytona. Down here you need a dashboard covered with all of the saints. LOL

I'm calm now! I think a handsfree device would help some these people drive more safely...but many here just don't have driving skills to begin with. Pulling over is probably not an option because the cellphone never leaves their ear while they are conscious...unless they need to switch batteries. Shocked))) Most Latins wave their arms around when they talk (even on a cellphone) which adds to the danger while driving...coupled with makeup application, eating and drinking, tending to the kids, dancing... It is illegal now to drive and talk on a cellphone in Miami-Dade County...which has to be close to sacrilege to most of the residents.

Another Qigong practicioner. It's how I keep serene, too, especially since I commute on LA Freeways on a daily basis.

LA freeway, is that where they have those road rage and start shooting.  The Army got a lot of bullet proof vests that they are not using you can get cheap.  They were going to use em in Iraq but some one decided not to order any coz without em the young men seem more alert.  Oh well

Hi Jeff,

I slept in late today and missed my AM Qigong session, thus I was a bit cantankerous when I posted earlier. Shocked))) I am now serene...even though my teenage son and 2 of his friends are playing video games and blasting the stereo. If I could only get them to listen to some Skynyrd! LOL
