I know the philippines used to celebrate July 4th as independence day in the phil's but changed that to june.How many of your ladies still observe their countries holidays?For the ladies how many of you celebrate your regular holidays?

Hey Equitis,
I really never observe philippines independence day which now move june 12.Independence day in Philippines  for me is not a big thing unlike here.Christmas holiday,all saints and souls day,new year,valentines,and holy week that what we observe most.I observe fiesta holiday and death anniversary of my relatives and family here too.Oh before I forgot we observe fil-am friendship day this july 12  this coming saturday in my area complete with roast pig and all kinds of filipino american food and kareoke challenge.kareoke our passport to stardom waaaaaaaaaaaah. We invite press also.Raquel

Isn't that July 4  in the Philippines is Fil-Am friendship day? As far
as I know our Independence day  is always June 12 .  My history
class never mentioned it was moved from any other date. Yes I do
observe Independence day back home. I  did always attend the
parade in honor  of the Philippine heroes and offer flowers after
the day's program.

Hi Peaches,

Yes, July 4 was always Philippine Independence Day until Gloria's daddy changed it in the 60's when he was president. I guess he thought July 4 was "too American".

Thanks for the info Ray. It's good to know. Maybe I was absent (
history class) at that time when they discuss  about Indepence day.
