I'm going to be arriving in Manila on August 1st to visit my
sweetie. She's reserving a room for us at the InterContinental
where one of her cousins works. Has anybody stayed at this hotel?

Also, can anyone recommend sites to see in and around Manila? We
are going to stay in Manila for a few days, and then we will be
traveling to the Southern Leyte province where her family lives.

Any travel tips, etc.. would be very much appreciated.

Also, what papers do I need to take with me for her to fill out,
and do I have to get certain sized photos taken of us too?

Thanks in advance.

I thought the American Cemetary in Manila was worth visiting.  I also liked the new shoreline on Manila Bay.  I don't know the correct name, but they've put walkways and seats there and at night you can walk along the bay.  Very nice.

I didn't like InterMundo.

Actually, I like Manila better each time I visit it.

Hi JJ,

There is a lot of great stuff to see in and around Manila.

Instead of spending too much time walking around in some shopping mall, get out and see the real Philippines as much as you can. Walk around and meet the people. Take a drive through a slum neighborhood. Are you interested in war stuff? Be sure to visit the American cemetery and if the weather is good, take the Corregidor tour. And take lots of pictures for Stephen! :-)

Thanks for the advice, guys. I would like to visit the
Intramuros City. When you guys visited there, what hotels
did you stay at? What essentials did you take with you to
the Philippines on your trip? I've never traveled outside
of the U.S. before, so I'm trying to make sure that I have
everything I'll need to take. Thanks for the help. Smiley

I've stayed at Executive Plaza.  This is near Robinson Mall.  It's a very nice place.  Price is about $28 per night.

But the place that is really nice for a cheaper price in also by Robinson Mall.  It's HOTEL FRIENDY.  (Not Friendly Hotel...FRIENDY HOTEL.)  Price is $22 per nite.  Nice big rooms and good A/C.
