Probably one of the best Dilberts ever, but Unix is superior to Windows and every other operating system I have come across.

"I have since started corresponding with fab lady more my age (we're both early 30s)."

Good decision.  I think you'll do much better that way.

I wondered what happened to you. So you're planning a trip to Mindanao? Great!

"Maraming salamat" was perfect. Down South you could also use the Visayan version "daghang salamat".

Where is Villanueva? It's been a couple of years for me, so I'm not the one to ask about current travel conditions between CDO & Surigao. The Bachelor Express Air-con Express bus used to be the best public transportation available for that route. I think Stephen & Tess traveled the Butuan-Balingwan-Cagayan De Oro route in the past week or so. I haven't heard of any terrorist threats in that area recently. Most of the trouble is in Zamboanga and parts South I believe.

Hi Ray,

My wife did the Bachelor Express Air-con Express bus between Butuan City and CDO several times during the past few months...no problems.

Hi Big Jack, welcome aboard!

Sorry to hear of your problem, but it sounds like you handled it very well. Like Howard said, withdrawing your petition should not affect any future petitions that you may file. It happens all the time that people change their minds for one reason or another.

You want to withdraw your petition in writing. I would write a short letter simply stating that you no longer intend to go forward with the marriage and that you are withdrawing your petition. Make sure to reference the file number on your approval notice, include the beneficiary’s full name for the record, and sign and date it. You don’t need to go into details or explain why you are withdrawing. Send the letter by certified mail w/return receipt, with a copy to the service center that processed your petition, to the embassy in Manila:

Chief, Immigrant Visa Unit
PSC 500 Box 26
FPO AP 96515-1000
USA

Good luck and don’t give up pursuing your dreams,

Jack,

My advice would be to call the BCIS Hotline.  The number is 800-375-5283.  I had a similar situation, in that I was once married and Annuled from a Filipina and have met the one I should have waited for the first time around.

Like you, I was worried that my former K-1 might affect the one I need for my Fiancee now.

An Immigration Officer--after a few transfers--told me that each K-1 is approved on it's own merit and that the only things they consider is A) are you legally able to marry your fiancee once she gets here and B) Do you meet the financial requirements of the Affidavit of Support.  The Officer came right out and said that the fact that I had previously been approved for a K-1 would not affect the new application.  You will HAVE to list your former fiancee on any new K Visas in the section where they ask if you have ever applied for a fiancee/spousal visa before, but beyond that it won't be an issue.

An officer will tell you step by step how to rectify your situation.  They are pretty patient and helpful on the Hotline at least the people I have talked to.

I had to revoke my Affidavit of Support and that was easily taken care of with a letter and a copy of the Annulment Papers to the proper office.

Sorry to hear about your misfortune Sad

Hope this helped Smiley

Keep the Faith
