Hi everybody! I was just wondering what if some of the experienced
members of this board would mind posting some of the most
common scams involving pen pals.

I mean, we can all post about not sending money, but it
would be interesting too if we could see some of the different
variants.

That way, we would have one thread about this subject.

What do y'all think? Purty please, with sugar on top?

Thanks!

You might want to start by reading http://www.planet-love.com/scams.php.  If there's anything you feel should be added, post it to the board.  Avoiding almost all scams is really pretty easy.  Just don't send money.

Matt,

That's why we have archives on the forum. Just do an archive search and you'll find plenty.

If you use your common sense, you won't have any problem spotting scams. Some of the key words to watch for are:

"money"
"dollars"
"pesos"
"cash"
"Western Union"
"cell phone"
"hospital"
"sick"
"medicine"
"tuition"
"gold"
"diamonds"
"emeralds"
"I love you no sh**t, buy me a (fill in the blank)"
