Here`s a question for you guys that are use to dealing with things over east. My boy is a Marine stationed in Okinawa. Do you know of any cheap phone cards for him to call the USA ?? He gets some on base for .14 a mintute and everything I see on the Internet can`t come close to this. Any suggestions ?? Thanks in advance !!

Brastel is currently advertising in the "Metropolis" for 12 cents per minute for land-line connections.  Their cards are available at many foreign restuarants and most Japan McDonalds.  You just take it to a convenience store to charge it up in 2000 yen increments.  And the price is as low as 7 cents a minute from my cell phone, but it burns up limitted cell phone minutes which run about 40 cents per minute on my J-Phone.  But that is pre-paid ahead of time, so it is use it or lose it anyway.

So if your boy ever makes it off base, it should be easy to find a blue and yellow Brastel packet with instructions in English at any McD's.

Be grateful you have the 14 cents rate dont even waste your time , you could spend a month looking and even if you find a place with a supposedly cheaper rate, it will have hidden charges, taxes, connect fees, and so many other hidden bs that it will drive you nuts, stay with the rate you have.

Now if you were paying 30 or 40 cents a minute, ya it would be worth your time to look, but with that rate, dont bother.

Try nobelcom.com.  They have cards for calling Japan Military for as low as 4 cents a minute.  Just go to the search engine and choose US to Japan.

Thanks but my boy is stationed in Okinawa and want to call home in the U.S. a little cheaper. I looked at Nobel.com, way too expensive.
