...it yourself. Lots of ways to do this on a PC. Tapes, VCDs, SVCDs, DVDs, VHS you name it...all can be transcoded with very little investment. DVDs can easily be made region free. You just need a decent PC, the stuff to do it, and be willing to learn how.

I just finished encoding two weeks worth of 8mm analog and DV to SECAM and sent it off to Russia for two girls who recently visited me. Going the other way round is a bit more of a hassle but still not too difficult.

Newer vcr's will play both but only record on one.
