Visa for Ukraine

I read some time ago in this forum that Ukraine was considering an easier entry for a U.S. citizen. Under this plan an American can enter Ukraine and stay there for two weeks. Apparently the plan has not been in effect since the Consulate at Chicago is still issuing visas. Does anyone know further development?

Can you copy the visa application form from their web site and use it in applying for the visa? Or is it necessary to get the original form from the Consulate?

I would appreciate help.

Normal entry into Ukraine requires a passport and visa.

However, there are special rules if you enter directly into Odesa or Simferopol (that is - you do NOT first fly to Kyiv and then connect to Odesa or Simferopol - you must fly to one of those two cities DIRECTLY from another country).

In that case, here are the special rules for a US citizen:

Visa can be issued on arrival for a max. stay of 14 days if
travelling as tourist and:
- arriving directly at Odessa or Simferopol airport;
- holding hotel/tourist vouchers from tourist organization registered at Ministry of Foreign Affairs; ;
- holding 2 photos;
Fee: USD 29.-, (or equivalent).

Passenger may be required to show a legitimate invitation from an official sponsor in Ukraine.

All passengers must, on arrival, fill in the Immigration Card. The card must be presented together with the passport when entering and leaving the country.

Non-compliance with the entry regulations will result in fines of USD 700-800.-, for the carrier and deportation by same carrier on first available flight.

Yes, downloadable forms are accepted at the Chicago Consulate, in spite of their statement on their website to the contrary.
