The FBI statistics for the USA imply that there are approximately 1200 women murdered each year by their husband or boyfriend.  Another analysis I found for the year 1995, criticized the FBI statistics as misleading and put the number at 820 wives (and girlfriends?) murdered for 1995.  Considering that the USA has a much larger population, it would appear that the Russian murder rate must be about 20 times greater.
