... in response to No Russian women willingly become sex sl..., posted by ChrisNJ on Nov 13, 2003

On that same page you linked to - at the bottom of the page - you will find this link -- http://www.guardian.co.uk/comment/story/0,3604,444751,00.html

It refers to a story from the United Kingdom that says that some of the women actually *do* seek a life of prostitution in other countries. Not sure if this qualifies as "sex slaves" - but if not, it isn't far off.

I felt a little conflicted about posting this. Mostly because I worry that some readers of boards like this are mostly in it for an exotic sex tour - and information such as this simply fuels their salacious fantasies.

Still, there are enough sincere people traveling thousands of miles to meet potential life-partners, and they ought to be informed of some of the 'issues' facing the women in those countries.

FWIW

What makes you think any of those girls
chose that life?  They certainly didn't write
their own profiles -- it all looks to have
been written by the same guy.  That's right,
you're sitting there getting all excited about
what some guy wrote.

Pravda is right that no RW chooses that life.

Note, though, that www.loveforsale.org is not
a MOB site (mob, maybe, but not MOB.)

We're really expected to believe that those girls are actually looking for any guy "between ages 14-80 & 80-300 lbs" ??
They probably get $30 and a bottle of vodka for a photo shoot.

"According to the World Migration Organization, all "bride by mail" agencies offering women from the former USSR are controlled by organized criminal structures."

Pretty broad statement there.

... in response to Jack Bragg and his Mafia Cohorts . . ., posted by Dan on Nov 13, 2003

Dan, some people in the world have no idea what they are talking about.

People who want to put a bad light on American and foreign men seeking Russian brides will come up with any negative thing they can say in hopes of slowing down something that is not slowing down but only picking up more speed.

Are there marriage agencies who are "influnced" by the mafia in the FSU, the answer is absolutly. Some countries (Belarus for example) and cities more so than others.
