Financial support to Ladies in the Ukraine

I have heard that men who have girlfriends in the Ukraine, Kherson for example, are expected to provide her financial support.  Just wondering if anyone could verify that, Thanks

Depends on how much you make, Beamish...

For instance... if you make good money as a "landscaper" then I am sure you can afford to send money.

Or, if you (for instance) owned a wildly successful "Marriage Agency"... I am sure you could afford to send money...

As for me, I can't afford to send money to a girlfriend in Kherson...

I could only send it to my fiance...

It is very "nice" for a lady to receive money from her "gentleman".  Even nicer to receive support from 5 such gentlemen per month.  Hope you have met and know the lady well before sending "support".  Otherwise,  it is individual foreign aid.

My girlfriend is not comfortable taking money from me at all.  Even when i leave money with her to take care of travel arrangements for the 2 of us.
When i'm in town i pay for everything we do: metro, taxis, movies, groceries, restaurants etc...but she won't let me pay for her taxi home from the airport after she sees me to my departing flight.

I don't totally understand the logic she applies but it's hers.

NEVER send money to a woman you've never met!  Except maybe the cost of correspondence.  

Any girl who asks you for money for visas, sick babushkas, etc, is scamming you.  Move on to the next one.

When in doubt, refer to rule number one.  Be careful even after you have met her.  (Some of us, like me, don't make the best choices...)

Any girl who you are sending money to most likely is taking you to the cleaners, especially if you are dumb enough to send her money without ever meeting her.

Some men may send money to help a lady with correspondence, email etc. but only to a lady whom you've met and have a stable relationship. If you've never met the lady you're under no obligation to send her anything, however you should use the services of an agency for email forwarding etc where the lady can correspond with you for free. Just the cost of email and letters can be prohibitive for these ladies.
Unless you're engaged to be married you should not send her a monthly allowance, she may be also receiving money from other men without your knowledge.
