So here it goes for the next part...

Yesterday i had my last meeting of my "to date list". A really beautiful girl(her pics didn't really pay her justice), but it seems we don't have much in common. Maybe i'll have another meeting just to see if she has secret resources...

An interesting thing which seem to be quite common : these girls(the younger ones, no flames i'm 28) don't seem to want to leave. At least from Volgograd. I've been to Yoshkar -Ola and ther things are way different. This city sucks so much i'd say every gril would like to leave from there. Just show your passport and you'll find someone. Of course that is not what we want. Si IMHO keep away from Y-O. Not fun and too many visa whores.

In fact Volgograd is so fun it just makes you wonder if you want to live there.

Anyway : after my meeting with Daria, i went to eat some pizza(quite good, just not enough tomatoes, IMHO the pizzeria of Volzky is the place to go if you want a real italian style pizza...sucks it's that far). After that i went to the internet cafe and had a chat with my swiss friends on ICQ. Then i didn't feel like sleeping. So again to the waterfront!! as soon as i was there, a girl asked me if i was alone and bought me a beer. She was not my style although some could have found her pretty. But in my book just never say no to a free beer:). So basically we had a chat, i didn't understand anything to what she said since she had a realy weird voice.(and all was inr ussian) I boughther some salad and then i felt like going somewhere else, becaue i was feeling bored..

Hopefully i saw Aliona, the girl i had slept with a few nights ago...I didn't want her to see me with another girl so i din't say anything to her so she didn't see me. After that her friend(the one with the broken foot remember?)  noticed me as i was ordering sth a t the bar. So i went to say hello , said that i would be back soon and returned to Margarita and said her i was really sorry but i couldn't stay as we weren't understanding each other at all and my friends at the other table spoke some english. (it was true in some ways...but their english was still very limited)

So back to Aliona's table. Atfter some tiem Nastia left and i was alone with Aliona. She's far from being a hottie like i have dated until now(in V., not in my life:)), but she really is crazy as i am, loves to party, and has a lot of charm.
So we chatted until 5 in the morning, and then  we took a taxi to my place. She was working the next morning so she didn't stopped there. Just a nice french goodbye kiss in the Taxi, and she told me she would call me the next day to have a swim in the volga together. She didn't call but i guess she had the wrong number since i had changed my apartment.

So i tried to call her to the number she had left me, and i ended with a pretty not friendly person who didn't seem to know at all who Aliona was. I was thinking oh my god, not f**cking mind games again. She really seemed interested(maybe not as a wife-husband thing but still as a vacations relationship) so why a false number?

Then i thought that maybe it was her work number and since i didn't know her family name i couldn't do anything. So i waited after work hours and called again, to find a nice person who seemed to be her mother  and told me she was still at work, and that i should call her again the next morning. I'm not good at composing numbers i guess..

Boy was i relieved!!!:) So i will be back at the waterfront tonight in the hope to see her agian. IT seems everytime i go there she is there as well and she told me she didn't came everyday..She added maybe it was a magnet for us...

SO interesting stuff going on...Really not a hottie but there are lots of stuff more important than that. With her i really behave the way i am usually, and i-m not trying to be like traditons would like me to be.

So who knows???...

An interesting thing still : When a Rw tells you "ya budu ckuchaiu tebya"(i'll miss you)  or sth like that, forget about the grammar, that is a polite sentece which you always say when someone is leaving. Actually maybe its the same in English i don't knwoo since its not my native language, but in french that means you really mean it. Good to know in order to avoid false interpretations.

Till later, Patrick

Thanks for the trip reports, they bring back some memories of my previous trips (I'll be back in the field myself in a few weeks.)

Yes, I have also found that the younger generations in these places are not in a great hurry to leave (especially countries which have joined the queue for the EU.) But if they think that things are going to improve dramatically for them within the next 10 years they are sadly mistaken. In fact, when the next wave of countries join the EU the conditions will actually worsen for the average person over the first few years as prices rise and wages remain static.

Actually I think many of them close their eyes to the future, which also explains some of the mysteries of RW behaviour!

Whether it's an adventure or a future you're looking for, I hope you find it, have fun on the way and most imporant keep your head together. Good hunting!

What that just means is their will be alot of cheap labor for companies to exploit.  Kinda like what's happening in China.  Nobody can afford to buy a new car with their peanut pay wages, the only people getting rich is the American companies that are exploiting them.

It's a shame they watch american movies and see all the benefits of life we have, but our infastructure just didn't happen over night.

Theirs will probably consist of a huge Wal-Mart store on the Metro line, along with a Walgreens or a Rite-Aid, then and maybe then there will be a Home Depot store out near where all the big homes are being built for the 10% rich population while the remaining 90% will just have to do with fixing up their cement block high rise apartments with remanents of what the rich threw out by their curb side.
