Maybe, if I'm in Italy or Bahrain this winter I'll make a brief trip over to find out how cold it really is and get the snowflake and slush angle.

I am aiming for next spring. I got downsized, with two thirds of my department,  two years ago and it's taken me a while to build up vacation time: I get two weeks after two years on the job.

Karl:

Methinks you are an optomist.  I thought Bill had reservations for the 12th of Never.

Though, I must admit if I go over I'm going to go on a photographic journey first and for most.   I'm dying to see the country side and the villages along the way as well as the 4 corners of Ukraine and possibly some of Russia.

If anything, I'm going to do it the way uncle Jack did it.  By going over a couple of times and really meeting alot of women.  The whole notion going over one time and marrying the first one you meet is insane.

I certainly don't want to marry a city girl, as I'm a hick in the sticks.  The girl I'm lookin for can churn her own butter and grow tomatos and sugar beets.

So the whirlwind approach isn't going to be my route.  I would like to go meet Marty and his wife and check out any friends his wife might have.

All I know is this evolution is going to take some time. I've got all the time in the world.  It's just going to take me some time to build up some cash reserves.

It's a shame I sold my favor stock: SNDK at $15 only to watch it go up 3x in the last 3-4 months.  Oh well.  But, I've kinda written off the stock market for a time to come.

...big fella, not like you to get wound up over a bozo like this. You need to be more tolerant...like me ;-)

BS is only doing what he knows best. Ain't his fault ya know, consider it Darwinism at it's finest. Just be thankful he can't bring one over and muck it up for the rest of you. Besides, anyone who doesn't realize now is exactly the time to be putting money into the market isn't going anywhere...

The bear market is still intact, we're just in a mini rally, which is unsustainable.  A great market for shorts, the summer time is when people are the most optimistic - plenty of summer jobs, etc...  come winter and the Christmas season the markets will go back in to hibernation mode.

...but you'll forgive me if I don't accept investing advice from a guy so poor he squeaks when he walks. I'll let ya in on a not so little secret: Investing in the market is a longterm thing. Ever hear of dollar cost averaging? You think stocks will be in the toilet forever? Better study yer history...

You think my house cost $250k and I'll have to buy a double wide if I lose my job? Lol, you couldn't buy an outhouse where I live for $250K. And mine's paid for to boot. Do ya think all that happened because I took financial advice from people with net worths approaching zero? Did it ever occur to you you're where you're at today because of decisons you made (or didn't make) in your past? And examining that process reveals your future? Wise up my friend...

I recently spent a month in Ukraine doing exactly what you want: wondering the country hither and yon, handing out fistfuls of dollars wherever I went. You know what kind of fun that brings? Babes aplenty Billy, with no strings attached. (Watch for it coming later this summer to a small screen near you.)

You on the other hand can't even escape Hazard County. Jeez, no wonder yer crackin up. Oh well, say hello to Boss Hog for me...

I didn't say tomorrow the market was going to crash, but it will in time.  Your not taking my advice, but I'm just repeating what A. Gary Shilling, AB & PhD. sez in his book "Deflation".

I think it's great your house cost $250K, I sure hope it's paid for free and clear.  And your property taxes aren't very high along with your insurance etc...

Gee where I live at a 250K home could be a really big home, but I know in Memphis and St.Louis a 250K home isn't much more than a 3bedroom/1 bath and maybe a garage.

I had some heady stock gains from some tech stocks, which esentially was the reason for my trip to Ukraine.  When I went to Ukraine I had no notion what so ever to find a wife.
I just happen to stumble upon a girl, I mean their everywhere all dress to kill.  The russian guys I've spoke with told me there is a reason for that...for guys like you.

I think Reba McEntire has a song called "fancy", which just might explain it.

Anyway, my trip was one to just explore.   Glad you were spreading good cheer on your trip, though I wasn't one to hand out money to strangers - which tends to make people lazy and make people think all Americans are rich, like those gypsy kids that run up to you with gold teeth and asking for a handout.

I just hope your going to take your time in finding a girl.
Who knows in 2-3 years that 250K home could be hers, while your sleeping in at the office.

As I said before the economy isn't going to crash all of a sudden, but it will take time a slow errosion process over the course of time, my guess is 4 years from now.

Hey LP, my dough has gone into condos, appt.bldgs, and things that I collect 10% per month on.  Plus the Shelby has shot up to....well....alot.  Then, there's always rare art, if you have the "gonchas."  \

PS:  Looking at at a Cirrus roller skate (185 is plenty fast for me) and now seems to be the time...but could really use a Gulfstream for every day use if it can get me to the UK (England) before "God gets the news."...but unlike Thurmon Munson, I know my limitations.

Cheers!!!

...gonchas (nor culture) for real art, outta my league. Was into a little real estate years ago, wish I'd kept it now. (lol, maybe I need me a couple 'o doublewides.) Can't complain though, the personal shack has done pretty well. The D car is holdng it's own but it's certainly no Shelby. The L39 on the other hand...but I gotta share that with two other guys.

Yeah, Thurmon really screwed the pooch. Too bad he took some of his buddies with him. I get pissed when I see  innocents lost by stupidity, it happens all the time. Those early 550s are easy to handle too, just shows how inexperienced he really was.

Good luck on the Cirrus, get the 22. I keep tellin ya though...chutes are for puzzies. ;-)
