Hello there,

I was wondering if any of you had already used Net2phone(pc to usual phone) to call their sweethearts in the east...
I have a problem with my usual provider and i am considering this otpion. Rates for Russia/Ukraine are as low as 0,2$ a minute...

So my question is about the sound quality..Worth it or not?

oh another quick one: is it possible to call cell phones with it?

thx for the input

Genor

Its pretty good for domestic traffic.  Not all that great for international.  Far as I know you can call any number with the service, cell phone or no.

I  use a card that costs about 0.15 US a minute sound quility is ok.  Better some days worst others...  but in most cases they think it is just because you are calling from far away.  I also use direct PC to PC for voice and sometimes video conference.  Some Internet Cafes have broadband/satelite and the quality of connection is good.  Cost around $2.00 per hour...

I had used Net2Phone to call Kiev about a year ago.  Sometimes they were good, sometimes not.  They seemed to be better after I placed a call to customer service and pointed out that Kiev was not only the capital, but the largetest city in Ukraine.

Note: they charge significantly more if you use their 800 number.

I had a second card as backup, but sometimes neither would work.

Net2Phone is much better domestically.

I've used the regular net2phone, not the pc deal.  There were very very many times I could not get through,  which was a pain.  This problem was only calling Russia and Ukraine...England, Sweden, Ireland etc was never a problem.  But,  the line quality could be very poor to any country anywhere.  I shudder to think how the pc quality is.  Also,  after checking my billing history they would add 50 cent and 80 cent charges to some calls.  I complained and hit the stock answer that my local telephone compay charges them these access fees.  Of course,  my local phone company knew nothing about any charges.  I dropped net2phone.
