Hello all!

Gosh it's been quite a long time since i haven't been on this page...IT's kinda fun being here because all my previous trip i used to prepare reading the posts come back to mind...(before i was Pat, if anyone remembers, and i was banned after a reply a little too harsh or so it seems) Anyway...

After an almost 1 year relationship with a very nice Ukrainian, 2 travels, and a break-up(very nice is just not enough sometimes) i'm back on the scene...I'd like to focus on just one city, but i don't know which(i'd rather go back to Russia, i kinda miss it!) Oh and i focus on european Russia, like not more than 15 hours train from Moscow.

So after a few google searches it seems to me that the only cities where i can find decent(and not too expensive) agencies are Yoshkar-Ola(but i've already been there, so i'd prefer to visit another town), Volgograd(i'd like to but it's a bit too far for the time i'll have, and i don't trust the russian domestic flights), and a few others too far again...

So would you have an agency/city to advise me? or isn't there a website with all agencies listed by city??

And a last question : I'd like very much to visit Nizhny Novgorod, but although it's a more than 1 million pple city, i couldn't find any agency there...Anyone has some ideas?

Thx for the replies,

Patrick

I have to agree with other posts. It almost seems you "have" to get on a domestic russian flight out and away from Moscow in order to get the full flavor of Russia.Changing over flights from Shtvo-2 to Shevto-1 is a snap.People speak English there. It is true, only 5 kg. carry-on and 20 kg. in luggage or you pay about a dollar a pound extra.I think most people overpack when traveling to Russia. As you already know been there before,a few changes of dark clothing fits you into their crowds and better yet plan to purchase a pair of their square tip black leather shoes upon arrival.
As for me,I still think central Asia places like Bishkek,Kyrgyzstan have the best mix of cultures for family oriented gals.Peek at my profile and see the agency I met my wife at.It's worth a look and it is owned by a wonderful lady and her family and workers.US dollar is so strong out there.Almost twice the rubble value in Russia.Best of luck in your choices...

A work pal of mine is going to NN very soon to meet a lady he's been writing for the last few months (as he don't have internet access, me and the wife have been doing the email translations and I drop the printouts on his desk in the morning and get to send off the replies)

Anyway, I haven't found any agencies (dating nor accom.) on the internet at all, in fact very little useful English language web presence to be found, seems NN is an untapped resource of RW.

The lady has found him some accom with relatives, maybe you should try "Ruk v ruki" for accomodation adds

Lufthansa do direct flights to NN from Frankfurt, my pal got Aeroflot? London-Moscow-Nizhniy return £189.00 plus tax

I suggest you do fly from Moscow to another city on Aeroflot.  I have made three trips to Novosibirsk without a problem as well as one trip to Sochi, all on Aeroflot, without one problem what so ever.  One caveat - no more than 20 kg total baggage weight.
