It' s been in the headlines here that a man has killed his Russian wife while her two children were sleeping. The have been married for 1.5 years. The children are taken care of, but they are without family in Norway. People from the local centre for mistreated women say that even if there are many Russian women who have a good life in Norway, there are also a high percentage of Russian women who need to find protection in the centres for mistreated women.
Relationship between Russian women and Norwegian men very often encounter these problems:
- Many of the men who is searching for a foreign woman, do that because they are not attractive at the local market.
- Russian women have heard that Norway is a country with equal opportunities between men and women.
-Norwegian men want a Russian woman because they believe Russian women have traditional view and values on the relationship between men and women..
- The two parts have different expectations.
- Norwegian men quite often use the power they have to suppress their wives because within the first three years the Russian woman will have to return to Russia if there is a divorce.
- Cultural differences and problems with language.
Maybe these problems are valid also for men from other countries? It looks to me that these foreign women risk more than we men do.
