Looking ahead it appears that there will be more impediments.

1. If the Warsaw Embassy adpots the same action plan (lacl-of-action?) that Moscow seems to have, the time line will be extended considerably.
2. In July 2003 Ukraine citizens will require a visa to enter Poland.

Now, maybe the Kiev Embassy will start to process all visas there, or, maybe everyone will have to plan ahead a little more.

It seems that in either case, the time-lines will be extended in short order.

Right now, the lady travels to Warsaw from Ukraine and needs her international passport to do so.

If they stop issuing visas the same day - what becomes of the passport? Do they hold it? Do they return it to the lady and tell her to come back to Warsaw when they are ready to issue the visa (some weeks/months hence)?

If they *do* hold it - how does she return to Ukraine to wait? Answer is - she cannot return without the passport.

The long and the short of it is - something is going to have to change dramatically in the coming year. My bet is that the US Embassy in Kyiv is going to have to pick up the task of processing K-1 visas themselves.

FWIW
