Next time you guys go to the book store pick up Pat Buchanan's "Death of the West".  Go to the section titled: "The Coming Great Migrations".  There are about 4 pages on the population decline of Russia and Ukraine and the potential future consequences.

Some of Buchanan's basic points:  Russia is suffered the largest population decline of any nation not caused by war, famine or pandemic.  The expected long term consequences he expects will be eastern Russia will be retaken by China and Muslims will invade from the south and retake the southern regions of Russia.  In 25 years Iran will have as many people as Russia.  There are large population declines in the eastern Russia and only 8 million Russians (I assume he meant ethnic Russians) east of the Urals.  An opinion poll indicated that 74% of the people in the Valdivostok area expected China to annex the region in the long run.

If you get the people hooked on drugs and there is no economic growth for years to come in desolate areas, the weaker sectors will falter.  And legions of people looking for cheap land will from evenly less economical countries will cross boarders to suffice to their economical struggles for mans inherent desire for forward growth.

This isn't something new.  It's been going on for the last 1000's of years.  Russia is just to big and under taxed to support those outlying areas.

They will eventually surrender lands that are of no value to them.  I seriously doubt if Ukraine will faulter, since their borders are well intact and is a much smaller country than Russia, with it's large land mass, however rugged it may be.

Will see in 20-30 years.

That's why the Russians see us Americans as their ally, to curb the ever expansion needs of the Chinese and Moslem states.

But the eastern regions of Russian are very vulnerable.  Russia took that land when China was weak and China may do the same when Russia gets weak.  China has controlled Taiwan for only 4 of the last 105 years but they still want it back.  They want some of the outlying islands in the Phillipines and there have been some skirmishes.

Actually Siberia has a lot of resources but the area is not being developed and the population is faltering.  Same type of thing in the artic circle.  The people in one of those cities I read about were starving and didn't have any oil or coal to heat with.  They were basically cut off and had to leave town.

Read a little of that book and you'll realize that guy is genius. He had to read and learn a lot to write that book.

it's his dam mouth.  The guy has shot himself in the foot for years, every time he gets on tv or radio, and turns off (my guess) 70% or more of the people that listen, simply because he is a one issue nut, and when that happens, people turn him off, totally.

His bs single issue crap is also the same reason why the likes of Gary (gag me) Bauer, and Alan Keys, have been ignored by most, even though their thoughts might have been right, their commitment to "single issues", were tantamount to political suicide.

In all three of these cases (men), the issue was abortion.  Anyway, I'm sick of the ultra-rights.  May as well be seweside bombers for their own cause.

His book may be right on the mark, but you don't go trying to sell one using the means to promote the issues the way he has.  That's one reason gwb is pres and he never will be.

Tolerance.
