Prior to 1991 ?

I doubt if many guys have ever had the opportunity to hear how different a life you may have lived.

Could you openly say anything against the state?

Reading a couple of books by Hedrick Smith entitled The Russians (1983) and The New Russians (1991). It was ground-breaking work by an American journalist that lived in the Soviet Union reporting on their way of life.

But does Natalya want to tell us any interesting stories or would she just like to forget that Chapter of her life.

Gee, I would encourage anyone who lived through a era of time like that, to write it down for her future generations to dwell upon.

It's like when I walk the streets of Kiev.. I say to myself, "What these walls must have seen and heard", the Knock at the door in the middle of the night and people being removed... never to be heard from again.  Spookey, but should be written down and recorded for history sake.

I wouldn't expect any immediate response...  It's not just an issue of state, it's also one of suppressed emotions for many years.  People in the FSU are even having a fiasco over the .SU domain's existence, (or what was it?).  Some want, some don't, others sit the fence.  (I don't know what happened with this issue a while back.. it's been a few months since I looked at the online rhetoric concerning it).

just my 2 cents and i know less than that.
