What kinda cell phone works??? I called Cingular, spoke at length..Was told that their cell phones wasn't capable of texting to texting overseas. Does anyone have sugguestions?? Thank you, greg

Im using Voicetream to Globe for texting. What other wireless carriers do you have in your area Greg?
I used to wonder why my girls ceel loads were running out so fast, I guess they are charged for inbound and outbound texts. But is an awesome way to communicate, and cheaper and faster than phone cards.

Ummmm I use telecommunication equimpment, and Webtv.net. I prefer texting to texting to RP. I own no cell phone, so I'm wondering what others use to communicate with their Mahal that owns a cell phone. Thanks, greg

Well, not quite sure what you are referring to with your use of telecommunication equiptment, but there are 2 ways you can text your girl on her cell, either get a cell phone / wireless network that has a partnership with Globe or Smart or you can join an SMS (short message service) and send her texts from your PC. Im not that familiar with WebTV , so Im not sure if its capable . There used to be a few free SMS services out there, but not many anymore. At Aircall.com you can make 3 free texts a day. I tried it but im not sure the text got through. If I were you I would see if you can find some friends with cell phones and see what Network they are using ie: Verizon, Voicestream, AT-T, etc, and try to  texting your girls number and see if any of them get through. Obviously try calling her at a time she will be ready, preferably let her know by calling her on a phone card first. Then remember to enter the 011-63 prefix and leave off the "0" of the 0917, 0919 or 0918 prefix. If she has Globe (0917) I think you may have better luck with international texting. Smart is a better network when in the Philippines, but Globe is better for texting the US. If you get your text throughon one of your friends phones then just buy a cell from the same Provider and you should be good to go. I didnt know there were still people out there that didnt have cell phones yet. Have you heard about microwave ovens yet? Just kidding bro, good luck.

Mark also make sure you try only phones that use the GSM protocol, thats what they use in the Philippines.

Hi Greg,
When I'm still in P.I  I have a textmate from California.His Filipino and a good friend of mine.He ask me if I have cellphone and I give him my cell number so we start texting.It works pretty good.I can even send e-mail with that cellphone to my hubby...

Texmate means texting each other.I text you then you text me so were textmate.When you start texting  they also call you texter.

My Mahal is getting tired of traveling back and forth to the Internet Cafe, she rather that I find a way to text her cell phone.  Shocked))

chikka is Tagalog for chatting.  It's an awesome program.  Free for you.  Some expense for the person in the Phils using a cellphone.
