If anyone can give me a reference for a great interpreter in Odessa, I would be grateful.  One guy here on the board told me there was a great interpreter that he knew..  I asked this guy for his email so I could ask him a bit more about the interpreter but he never would email me back..  I did finally call the interpreter (he had left his number) and the guy could hardly speak English!  The girls I am writing to and calling by phone speak better English!  So I STILL am without a good interpreter!

They need to be someone you have worked with and felt did a very good, honest job.. with GOOD English...

Thanks,

Oscar

You know... as a matter of fact I was just thinking yesterday that I needed to email you. If I recall, I asked you to please be patient. I just spent five weeks working 12 hours a day 7 days a week to get an aircraft navigation system back up, transmitting and FAA flightchecked after it's power supply blew up and took a bunch of circuits out with it. Three days after flightcheck I took a much needed vacation. Today was my first day back at work. I'm sorry I didn't get back with you and Ramblin; but, if you knew what I've been through at work recently you'd understand. Now my main focus is arranging a wedding in Hungary for me and Lena. No rest for the weary... I'm still super busy.

I'm somewhat shocked by what you've said about Andrei. So much so that Lena and I just spoke to him and asked him about you. He remembered speaking to you and said you plan to go to Odessa on 28 February. He tried to email you but it bounced back.

My experience is that Andrei's English is very good. I can't imagine what problem you could have with his English. He speaks classic English - not "American" English. If you're not used to that... OK so be it. Beyond that he's honest almost to a fault. He even agreed to go on a two day trip to Uman with us then said he shouldn't be paid for part of it because he enjoyed seeing Sofievka Park. It's almost funny. You're worried about getting screwed by a dishonest interpreter; and then you trash one of the few really honest interpreters in Odessa. I tried to help you as much as my time allowed.

I stand by what I said. I HIGHLY recommend Andrei to anyone.

You know what they say...

...no good deed goes unpunished.

Have a nice day.

Sean,

You didn't email me back for weeks..  That's ok, you were under no obligation to do so.

But it is YOU who has trashed "Andrei" here, not me!  I never mentioned either your OR his name in my post!  So you have yourself to thank for trashing him!

And as far as his English, I am truly sorry but he could hardly put a sentence together when I spoke to him and that is the truth!  I had to repeat myself many times and had great difficulty understanding him!  I was pretty shocked!

It is what it is..

We have a very good interpreter who is helpful and has fair rates, $15/half day $25/full day. In Odessa of course. If anyone is interested in using his services, just email me. He has contacts throughout Odessa also so if you are meeting girls from various agencies it won't be a problem.

He has always had good references from the men who use him and amazingly the girls the men meet with appreciate it also since often it is the first time they have met a foreigner and so they can be nervous.

E-mail me with your e-mail address and I will send you the names and phone numbers of 3 good interpreters whose command of English is quite good. And the going rate is $5.00 per hour or you could negotiate a flat daily rate.

Ramblin, e-mail me. Let me know if you prefer man or woman, young, middle aged or older interpreter. I can give you several e-mails if you want to contact them in advance.

My cousin who has just left the country has been to Odessa several times and can most likely help you. He will not be back in the States until the 18th. Let me know if you have time to wait on him.

You could do a Goggle search on agencies in that area.  I think almost all agencies can provide interpreters.
