I got an e-mail from a Tim.  I have not seen a tim on here and with all this virus stuff, i did not open it.  any one ever see a tim on here? It was  an AOL address.  Also , I hear a lot about scammer's on here. what would you say the percentage of scammers are in R/W. I have read alot about finding  a wife in Russia and find this post to be very helpful. However, to the people that use this post as only a means to throw dirt. If you are thorwing dirt, all you are doing is loseing ground. And it is the ground you are standing on. I have a lot to learn, and  I am sincere in this.  One thing I would like to hear is from the russian women that have married AM and how they feel about coming here and do they have any regret's about coming here. Is there a place or post that I could do this.
Thank You

Terry,
The best source of information is the archives.  There has been many posts that refer to how RW acclamate to America.  Most of the information will be given "second hand" through the American husband.  I think there are more than a few wives, like mine, that read this forum on a regular basis, but do not post often.  You can also do a search of the archives by subject matter.  Best of luck to you.

Ken, one problem i have had my whole life is, I am to organised. ha I try to cover ever possible problem before it happens. I know you can not cover all of them, but i do get pretty close. I am sure there is a period that the lady goes thur, where she is really home sick and may wonder if she has done the right things. does it get to the point that she wants to go back, or, what i am looking for is  how they handle it. I have to admire these women for coming here. I feel I understand why they come here after the study I have done. I have been writing to a lady in Russia for a year and a half. Bu t, this is just a freind thing with her. I have learned alot about their way of life. She speak;s very good english and has wanted it to be more. she has a computer and we e-mail each other just about every day. She is a very good person, she is just not the one for me. I am now ready to start my search for that special lady and she has given  a lot of different things to look at when talking to a lady from Russia. She will not help me find that lady because she told me she has to deep a  feelings for me and she would just get in the way. I have never lied to her and she respect's me for that.  I do want to learn how they adjust  to living over here before I go over..

Thank You

And what KenC & Dan have said is very true, in as far as what kind of life you provide them w/ when they get here plays a huge role in their acclamation. Just being a good husband is not enough if they have 10 hrs a day stuck at home w/ nothing to do. And of course their english skills and their personality also play a large role in this. If you live in an isolated area and she can't get anywhere on her own, then boredom and lonliness could defineately be a problem.
As for me, we live on the beach in a beautiful tourist area and Marina can walk out the door and meet new people every day. I also work nights, so we can take advantage of all that the island has to offer. And at night she plays w/ our daughter, writes her emails and reads this board (but doesn't want to post, yet :-) ...aloha & good luck

Terry,
My opinion is that social isolation is the most difficult obstacal for a RW to over come.  If the RW has good English skills, can drive a car and has a busy schedule once here, this will be less of a problem.  Most RW live in cities and have a more difficult time adjusting to rural areas here.  Even suburbs are often difficult for them to adjust to.  These "garage door" suburbs have much less interaction with people than a RW are used to.  (Garage doors open and people drive off until they return to disappear into their homes again)  Russians are used to constant interaction with their neighbors, friends, family in their apartments, on public transportation and even walking in the streets.

Now if you bring a RW here that cannot speak English, you are gone to work for the day and she cannot drive a car, what is left for her except depression and homesickness?  These are things to consider in making your choices.  Don't think, like some here, that JUST bringing her to America is enough.  She may not be all that impressed with America like you might think.  Of course they will like the luxuries that America can offer, but they will miss the more social environment they have left behind.  A full schedule of work, ESL classes and social gatherings will help greatly in her transition.

That relocate here.

Search for recent posts by JohnK as he has provided much useful insight. Be sure to read the responses as they too will  offer insights - some confirmatory and some contrasting.

tfcrew (Karl) is married to a RW - as is Bob S and Charles and KenC (of course), Rags (Ed) now, StanB, yoe, myself - and numerous others I cannot think of off the top of my head.

And don't forget RW - a real life RW --smile--.

All have commented on the transition to life in the US for RW at one time or another.

Good Luck!

- Dan
