Prior to hearing his music, I never imagined I'd commit to buying and enjoying music sung entirely in Spanish.  And I'm not much of a rock fan, either.

But, the guy's tunes are world-class kick ass.

And he proved it tonight.

I went to a Juanes concert in Colombia recently and man, that cat can put on a great long show!

In comparison, Mark Anthony's concert couldn't even hold a candle to the one Juanes put on.  Both gigs were well attended and had lots of enthusiastic, dancing, singing out loud fans.

Lots of hard booze available in Medellin at the Anthony concert if bought there yet the Juanes Bucaramanga concert only sold mostly beer.  Guess who thought had the better karoke krowd? ;-)

(BTW, both concerts were very well attended but the Juanes concert in Medellin was free!)

If you ever get a chance to see Juanes in concert be sure to attend however I will pass on the next Anthony one.
1 of his was enuf 4 me.

Remember to bring a very good pair of earplugs anywhere up close to the stage/speakers.  It tones down the decibels to "perhaps" a safe level but still feels like concussion grenades going off every second.
Those Colombians sure like their bass!

Juanes in Medellin was free?? He had a concert in Barranquilla recently which was packed despite the high cost of the tickets. Nothing was free.

His concert in B/manga sure wasn't free either but it was in Medellin, his home turf my understanding.  My guess it was a way of saying thanks to his many fans there.  Don't feel too bad Zack as it rained that evening.  Try getting a taxi when that concert ended!

No doubt, Juanes is the man, BUT I was really hoping to see something for Diego's Torres's "unplugged" album, he is an amazing artist!!  Carlos Vives was also nominated for the "tropical" music catagory but didn't win. Bummer!

I saw Carlos Vives in Los Angeles.
Everyone danced for two hours without sitting down.
The ladies were beautiful particularly a woman in his band from Cartagena.
The majority of the crowd were Cachacas but you could spot the costenas from a mile away by the way they were dancing.
Thank goodness, I will be returning to Barranquilla on Nov. 24.
Te Amo Colombia!
