Author Topic: Fuel Surcharge ATL to Lima 65.00 Each Way?!?!  (Read 3812 times)

Found a fare of 429 ATL to LIM, RT base fare. Called Delta, they confirmed the fare of 429. Then told me the fuel surcharge was 65.00 EACH WAY!! Add taxes/fees and you're over 600 bucks. Might as well just call the fare 560.00, unless they are hoping some people don't notice how large the "surcharge" is, or still psychologically think they are getting a "deal" after hearing 429.00.

Anyone else paid this yet?

Did Delta tell you about the $65 before you purchased, assuming you purchased online?

I did not purchase the tickets. Yes, the ticket agent on the phone itemized the charges for me including the surcharge. Maybe it's time to adjust my thinking in terms of what a good fare is to SA, considering how fuel costs may affect fares.

I found the fare on Clark Howard's website, but could not find it on Travelocity, etc., so I called Delta direct. I've always assumed taxes/fees would be added, but 65 dollars each way surcharge took me aback.......

Sure would be nice living on the Gulf...lower fares, shorter trips. Colombia is more of a sacrafice for us guys on the coasts and in the midwest.
