Ok- you'll all love this story! My buddy and I just returned from a long weekend in Colombia. My buddy picked up his date in Cali and I picked up my date in Bogota, and we met in Cartagena for the weekend. So this guy spends the weekend with this girl which he had met in Cali in June when we were down there the 1st time. They have a great time in Cartagena together. My buddy had recently won a trip to Mexico from his work, and he asked the girl if she can travel to Mexico and if she wants to join him there in October for this vacation. She says sure, she can travel to Mexico but will need to get a Visa for there. No problem she says, she'll go to Bogota and get one, and he can pay the cost. He figures it won't cost much. So today she send him an e-mail, and says everything is looking good sweetie, the negotiator says he can hook me up with the Visa to Mexico, and she'll go Tuesday to get the Visa. She'll pay for the trip to Bogota, and the hotel. All she need from my buddy is the $2,500 that the negotiator charges for the fees. And if he would please sent that money asap via Western Union that would be super! I told my buddy this chick is out of her mind. She didn't even bother to ask if he could afford it, or if he even wanted to pay it if he could. Amazing- huh? You'll also love the fact that this chick says she has her own business, and travels to Panana frequently for a week at a time to buy goods from China to resell in Colombia. Oh, and she has the "2 cell phones" !!! Even more cool was the little safe boxes built into her suitcase, which my buddy said were full of cash... My buddy likes this girl, but I think she's looking to work him for some cash. He is not going to send the money, but is not sure what to think about the girl. VIVA Colombia!!!

There are only two things that the Mexican consulates care about 1. If you have money. I mean excess. They want to see proof that the lady has cash in the bank or a platinum credit card and they will make a photocopy of the card. 2. Something that will make them feel sure you are not going to use Mexico as a road to get her to the USA or Canada.

wildbillman,

Thanks for sharing your story about your buddy.  As the other posters here have already said; we all hope that he isn't foolish enough to send the money to the latina.  But, I am also curious about you and your lady doctor, from Bogota. Based on the photos that you sent me a while back, she is attractive.  So, is it going with you and her? Do you think there is a future with her, or is it just for fun?  Take care.

P.S. So, how does it go when you date a lady doctor?  Does she like to play doctor? ha  Or maybe a sexy nurse's uniform can spice things up? ha ha  Just teasing.

How come you never see women proctologists? Hell, I bet an attractive woman doctor would check a lot of prostates.

2 years ago a Mexican visa took 3 days and cost 135.00 dollars.
One does not go through customs with hidden suitcase compartments in and out of Colombia without being noticed.
Most of the Colombian banks have satellite branches in Panama which any Colombian national can have access to.

Mexico visas are hard to get for Colombis
ans.And the charge  for the appointment is nothingv like $2500.$100 for the US.He will spend the $2500,she will keep it,get no visa.SCAM,SCAM,SCAM.
My friend from Canada married a Colombiana. While waiting for her visa to Canada they tried for a Mexican visa just to spend some time there.Turned down flat.
Colombi9ans can go to Panama no visa,or basically anywhere south.China I don't know.

I last heard that the Mexican Consulate in Colombia was charging $1000 for a tourist visa. It may have gone up since it then.

Does anybody know if it has actually gone up to $2500 or not?

$1000 is probably the price, the extra $1500 is probably the
bribe required to get the visa.  Mexican visas are difficult
for Colombians to get also.  Or WTF, the bribe could be $1000
with $500 she is keeping for herself.

I'm confused. Why would anybody travel frequently in and out of (alledgely) the world's largest drug smuggling country with large amounts of cash hidden in their luggage?
