What does America do to the Latinas

Went to a Colombian night club here in Houston last and there were many women from Med., Cali and Cart.  There were some hotties, but with noticible American traits, such as weight gain (tummies), and the other noticable difference was how they were dressed.  Seemed to be taking on the AW characteric of not dressing well. That one really shock me as I thought being here with more desposible income would be spent on keeping up the appearence.  But I guess being in Rome.................

Question for me is I want the woman I bring over to keep the wonderful qualities of being a latina, but adjust to living here in the states. Do I have to keep her away from AW and tell her don't be like that! I know weight gain will happen, but please don't dress like AW.

I hear the same about the Ukrainian ladies. They have the 10 kilo weight gain then after about 5 years have fully assimilated the AW lifestyle. Pretty fricking sad if you ask me for ANY woman to undersgo that Jekyll & Hyde transformation.

Two things...One has to do with the kind of food we have here, which is real fatty. I travel to South America about three times a year, and on every trip, I loose weight...that can also be because I screw more there than I do here! *L* Second, they have reached the land of plenty and they don't have to compete as much for the guys here like they have to back home.

My wife can't believe how fat Colombian women are here.  She saw some chubby young Colombian girls trying to dance sexy and she said she was embarrassed.  It doesn't help that in Houston restaurants when you order a plate they serve you enough food for three.

Same here... We live in Houston and have been searching for a decent latin club... One with a Colombian night would be a plus... Hush at I-10 & HW-6 has Salsa night on Thursday's... We haven't ventured into any of the latin clubs down on Richmond...

My wife has been here for over 2 years and has not gained a pound, still dresses well where ever she goes and is still the same sweet girl I married... I think what you may have witnessed are Colombianas that spent their formative years in our society...

I went to a Club on Richmond called Chicha.  It is on Richmond  near Fondren. Richmond has several Salsa clubs but I chose this one because it is popular with the Colombians. I will continue to go there to pratice my salsa and spanish speaking.  Its funny that I finally figured out to take advantage of practicing my spanish and dancing with the latins here. Typically I would wait until I go back to a spanish speaking country. I was proud of myself as I speak poor spanish but I was able to understand and speak some basic things as asking for a beer and understanding the money.  At the club they will speak spanish to you first and if you don't understand they will speak english.  Everyone is very friendly though. Also, because most people in the club are latin, you sort of feel like being in the clubs in a Latin country except you dont have the number of drop dead georgous women that you would see in a city like Cali.  This club is owned by a Colombiano. Majority Colombianos, but many from other countries.

I talked to a couple of girls from Med.; one very tall and striking beauty, but with a gut who had been here for 4 years. The other had been here 3 years--she was totally overweight.

My wife has been here for close to two years and I see no change whatsoever. Of course she was in her early 40s when she came here so I doubted she was going to change very much at that age.

come to miami - there are more hot latinas then in Colombia. personality change - that is another issue

Been to Miami many times and it it does have mucho hot latinas!  They are looking for the same thing the american hotties are --- guys with money.  I was surprised by the degree, and they do seemed less approachable.  Don't understand this as, for example, Los Angeles where the latina hotties are approachable, but I have not spent any significant time in Miami.  Sereval times of 1 or 2 day visits.

I hate Miami. It combines the very worst of Latin America with the very worst of the USA. The chicks are snooty bitches. I'll take Medellin over Miami any day.

It's a very interesting question.

Surely, a lot of the change comes as a result of these women attaining security and self-sufficiency on their own:  A decent income, health insurance, an apartment, an automobile, etc.  Once they discover that a man is not necessary in the security equation, they no longer need to "dress to impress."

My ex-novia from Mexico has changed a great deal since coming to the States.  Weight gain and materialism are the most obvious changes.  

Consumerism consumes them.
