She may have married an American politician for some sort of protection although I doubt that she is in danger of being extradited since it wasn't her fault her father was a murderous dictator.
although I would postulate that Rios Montt still has considerable influence in the country and most people would be afraid of him rather than vice versa.
He ran again for president in 2003 but received only 18% of the vote. still, 3rd among candidates.
