Author Topic: Live from BAQ... Latinas and "Thank You"  (Read 1708 times)

Has anyone else experienced this?  Iīm starting to think this is a cultural glitch...

Now donīt get me wrong, I have definitely seen that the Latinas in BAQ, in general, demonstrate affection, appreciation, love, etc. in abundance.

However, I have noticed that after the first date (if then), women donīt USUALLY say "thank you" (gracias) for dinner, cab fares, etc.

The girls I have dated ALWAYS make it clear that they enjoyed the time we spent together, they appreciate my thoughtfulness, etc., but that immediate "thank you" for a specific act is often not forthcoming.

hey L4W how is barranquilla and las costeņas treating you? to answer you question its definitly not a cultural glitch, colombianas a taught to always be polite and curteous. i have always been greeted with "buenos dias" and if i say "gracias" they will say "a la orden". all of the colombianas i've dated in bogota, cartagana and barranquilla have always said thank you to a drink, dinner or cab ride with the exception of one in bogota but she wasn't into me so i think it was her way of letting me know that there wouldn't be a second date. were the girls that didn't offer their thanks seem interested in you? perhaps they were shy? could it be that they were just full of themselves and thought it was your privilege to be with them? could be many things but i'm surprised that you've experienced that.

JediKnight:

I am having a great time, thanks for asking.  More details are under a separate post following this one.

This lack of an immediate "Thank You" for dinners, cab fares, etc. has been a recurring theme.  Since I often have a translator with me, I pay for her meals when I am on a date also.  I talked to my translator about this apparent cultural glitch, and she acknolwedged it, and apologized.  She said it was good that I mentioned it because she wants to grow as a person.

So I had this same conversation with the girl I am seeing the most and she, (along with the translator again), apologized profusely.  She even remembered to say "Thank You" afterward when she went home.  How often do AW say they are changing their behavior but then donīt...?
