Hi guys,

I have only got to watch a little TV while I was in Cali last summer. Needless to say, watching TV was not my top priority.  Having said that, I am curious to know if Latin American countries, and Colombia in particular, get to see american TV shows?  If so, which ones?  Also, tied to that idea, do they get to see any old classic TV shows? I have often wondered how they would react to something like I Love Lucy?  Mainly because of Desi Arnaz.  I am sure everyone remembers when he and Lucy would get into an arguement, on the old show, and Desi aka Ricky Ricardo, would start yelling at her in spanish.  I never could understand a word he said when he was talking in spanish; but you got the idea -- and it was very funny!  Naturally, there are many, many shows that all of us could name.  I for one loved the old westerns; movies and TV shows.  But, other than the soaps down there, and naturally the soccer matches; I don't know what they latins go for in the way of programming. I do realize that satellite TV has changed a lot of things for people; but I don't know how common that is to the average latin family?  Also, how about you guys who have married your latina and taken her back to the States.  How do they react to american TV?  By the way, my own opinion of the current programming is bad.  I don't think much of these so-called "reality" shows. But, I do like stuff like Law & Order, CSI, etc.  But, I am just curious?  Of course, the other question tied into that is do most Colombians, or other latin people have TVs in their homes?  I know it's there, I just don't know how common it is?  One reason why I am trying to find out all of this is that I am getting close to going to see my calena next month.  I would like to be able to understand what she relates to.  We have discussed this a little, but not much.

Direct TV has switched around hteir channels. Just when you think you know them.
Ok, we got FOX on 202 and you get Stargate SG1 around 6PM. Stargate: Atlantis at 8PM. Late Night you get Family Guy, Father of the Pride, and Futurama. FOX is also advertising that they will show the 5 episodes of Star Wars one every Thursday beginning May 22nd.
Sony Entertainment you get ER, Third Watch, Hope and Faith, Desperate Houswives, According to Jim, Scrubs, etc. With Sony you get West and East. So, you can watch Seinfeld, Wings, and Mad About You about 3 times a day.
AXN has Lost, The Shield, and Extreme Rally Race, Amazing Race (They haven't shown the new season yet), etc. Plus, they find some obscure action movies to show on there. They hada pretty good one on the other day called, "The Last Battalion" about an Army Battalion in WWI. Wasn't too bad.
You also have the Retro Channel. I watched, "For a Few Dollars More" with Clint Eastwood yesterday. Most shows are in English on the Retro Channel. Tonight I watched, and you're gonna laugh, "Plan 9 from Outer Space." I like Ed Wood Jr. OK? They have also been showing "The Outlaw Josie Wales" lately. Must be a Clint Eastwood thing this month.
If you have Direct TV almost everything can be heard in English with subtitles. Plenty of TV down here.
