Hi Pete, Like most things the truth is probably in the middle. I have no idea what the real numbers are for Colombia. The 50,000 figure in the article might be a span of a decade or more. But when even a "hold-out" nation like Japan finally signs onto some of these international anti-trafficking agreements (they got shamed into it, I think, because lots of horror stories emanated from there) then I don't think it's all just moralists or do-gooders promoting a cause du jour.
I have less sympathy for someone who is of majority age, unless, of course, they are drugged and held against their will. Perhaps intl. law enforcement should focus on how underage people are getting visas from third world countries to rich countries. It would seem govt officials are getting bribed/corrupted at both origin and destination.
