... in response to Why all the indecision?, posted by Calipro on Oct 18, 2003These must be stats from Alabama or something. But fortunately they are low so its easy to qualify, even several times.
A recent article in our newspaper here(San Jose Ca.) had the minimum salary needed just to survive,no frills, for a single parent, one child,no child care expense at $52,000.I showed it to my wife .She still doesn't get it.She thinks the $11 an hour job she is trying to get will be lots of money.Thats $22,880 a year. She says I can work 2 jobs.It will take 2.3 jobs ,91 hours a week at $11 an hour to make $52,000.$11 an hour is lots of money if its your spending money while someone else pays the bills.
But,these statistics make all kinds of assumptions that can be changed.Like 12 people to a house to cut living expense. No car insurance(no licence too) as in many of our illegals.Food doesn't have to cost alot.Medical insurance? No way, show up at the county hospital if anything happens.
There will probably be a bunch of people in my house after I leave, all Colombians probably.I don't want to be here to
watch.
