As many of you may or may not know, July 20th is Colombian Independence Day... There are festivals scheduled in the US where Colombian expatriates live... In Houston, there is a large festival scheduled with Colombian musica grupos, modelos, Paso Fino horses  and events for the entire weekend...

This is a great place to get a taste of the Colombian culture and people... Not to mention possibly hook-up with a Colombiana that is already in the US...

We found this link on the Colombian Consulate website in Houston under the "Events" heading...

http://www.caladproductions.com/p1.php

If you live in an area where there is a Colombian Consulate, checking their website usually lists events/locations for activities for Colombian nationals in that area...

Buen Suerte...

Yeah, they are having something in Dallas, too. I forget the location, but there is a poster about it in the window of the Casa Vieja resturant (located in the shopping center on the NE corner of Beltline and Josey, Carrollton). I'll put in a plug for the resturant while I'm at it, good food, reasonable prices. On most weekends they have dancing and/or tradional music. (but I've somehow never managed to make it to that). It's run by a very nice Colombian couple and their adult children.

BTW, in the picture on your link, why are they waving a Mexican flag? hee hee.

The festival is billed as a "large multi-national celebration of freedom and independence for several South American countries with large communities in Houston"... Besides, any reason to throw a party is good enough for me... hehehe...

The Mexican flag was the first thing I noticed too... I especially liked the chicas wearing the Colombian flag shirts...
