When I came home for lunch, Marina told me a humorous story that happened today. We had rescued a Persian kitten a few years ago from the pound and named her Dana. Dana must have come from an abusive environment, because she's afraid of everyone except me and my wife.
Today, we had the termite inspector over to do an inspection, part of the requirements of selling our house. He was asking Marina some questions when Dana wandered into the room, probably from taking one of her numerous naps. He asked my wife if he could pet Dana, and my wife told him that our cat doesn't get along with strangers very well.
Well, the guy sits down on the floor and starts talking to the cat. Dana decides to go over to see him. Much to Marina's amazement, Dana lets the guy pet her. Finally, the cat has had enough attention and walks away. The termite guy asks the cat, "Dana, don't you want me to pet you anymore?" The cat turns around, looks at the guy, and SHAKES HER HEAD NO. She then turns back around and saunters off. Marina and the termite guy couldn't believe it.
I'm sure it was just a coincidence, but I wish I had been there to see it. Of course, I'm a little surprised that my cat has been untrue to me, but such is the nature of cats...
