... in response to How can I find davidSD/which archives?, posted by jboatl72 on Jan 9, 2003I'll offer any help I can, but I doubt it will be any help at all. My situation was very different in that I was married for only 2 months when I filed for divorce and we have no children. I also think that what transpired in my court proceedings was a bit unusual. Not that I'm complaining mind you!
The situations are so very different. Probably the only good advice I could give is hire an attorney! Also, he should try and be as amicable as possible. There is really nothing to be gained by being vengful. There are a lot of things that I probably should not speak about as my divorce is not yet final. So, in my best interest, I can't at this time be as forthcoming as I wish I could.
David has a closer situation than I do, in my opinion. Though I think no children were involved. He's fortunate that there are no kids involved! As far as your friends wife being deported, I don't know...they were married for more than two years, so didn't she meet the criteria for the green card? Entering into a marriage in bad faith I think is more difficult to prove the more time that passes. Especially the two year point. But I'm not an attorney, your friend needs to retain one. I wished at this point I could say more, but I think I really shouldn't...not yet. When my soon to be X is gone, then I think I can safely say more. I don't know, I just think I need to keep my mouth shut until our divorce is final.
