POLICE IN HOT WATER FOR EATING FIGHTING COCKS

The town council of Amlan has demanded for the immediate suspension and disarming of eight policemen who stopped a cockfight, confiscated the bets and later cooking and eating the fighting cocks last December 1.
The town council's stand was contained in resolution no. 64, which was addressed to PNP Regional Director C/Supt. Avelino Razon.
The resolution also urged and authorize the Local Chief Executive and the fiesta president to file the appropriate criminal and administrative charges against Capt. Andot and his men.
The council has authorized Mayor Victoriano B. dela Cruz and councilor Maximo Maceda, chairman of the 2001 Fiesta Committee, to file criminal and administrative charges against Police Senior Inspector Reynold Andot, SPO1 Bert Belingan, PO2 Al Enriquez, PO2 Rudy Suldivillo, PO2 Webster Remolano, PO2 Ronald Trinidad, SPO1 Dodie Nillas and PO1 Allinjien Germodo for robbery in band with grave coercion, physical injuries, illegal arrest, arbitrary detention, theft and dissolution of a peaceful meeting.
De la Cruz and Maceda alleged that the eight policemen stopped a cockfight at a duly-licensed cockpit, confiscated P8,900 in bets, arrested two persons and caused panic with their drawn handguns, causing the people to scamper.*
