K2

Visa Journey states that an embassy normally requires a child to attend the Visa interview.  Has any one recently had to deal with this  Is it the case for Colombia, Bogota?

Technically, all aliens applying for a non-immigrant visa are required to be interviewed in person by a consular officer. The interview can be waived for a child under 17.

I would go ahead and assume that all K-2 children should attend the interview unless explicitly excused. If there is a good reason (medical emergency or unusual circumstance) why the child cannot attend, then I would phone ahead to the embassy for instructions.

My stepkids were K-4s, which is very similar to a K-2. Yes, they all had to attend the interview, even the 9 year old. Of course the interviewer just looked at them, matched them with their names and ages and that was it.

You did not specify if the visa was for the child or someone else.

It's a K-2. The only people they give a K-2 are dependent children of a K-1.....so it must be for the child. I don't have 'recent' experience, but back in 2003 my step children had to be interviewed. I think there is an age cut off, like under 6 or 10 they don't have to be interviewed, but I'm not sure what that age is.
