Hello all
I have been in Colombia for just over 2 weeks and what follows is my experience here so far.
Bogota
The first few days I spent in Bogota just acclimatizing to Colombia I guess. I can see what people mean about breathing in Bogota because of the high altitude. I found myself inhaling heavy quite frequently. I visited a few malls looking for a replacement pair of "in ear headphones" for my ipod. I also visited Latin American Introductions and Latin Lifemates (they are next door to each other) but I found that most of the ladies were a little older than what I was looking for. I´m 35 but look very young for my age. Most people think I am 25. I am looking for a girl between the age range of 22 to 28. A couple of the guys that I spoke to In Latin Life Mates were not happy with the service (girls not available in the books mostly)but in Latin American Introductions everything seemed fine and there was quite a jovial atmosphere with the guys and girls.
I did exchange glances with one girl in an internet cafe in a Bogota mall but I did not follow it through. We looked at each other a few times (she even turned around to look at me but all I could say was how slow the Internet was today like a dork- dah.
I do prefer a warmer climate than Bogota and was looking forward to sunnier climes in Cartagena.
Cartagena
I used the agencies "A Foreign Affair" and Amor De Cartagena". In the latter agency I only used them as there was only one girl that I really wanted to meet so paid $50 for the email addresses and cellphone numbers of 7 girls. I only called 5 of them and managed to meet 4 except Kenny the girl I really wanted to meet. I was originally told that Kenny was "a little bit available". I said what do you mean a little bit, does she have a boyfriend? It turns out she has been seeing someone for 6 months but I thought I would give it a shot as maybe she would at least meet me for a coffee and who knows, maybe her relationship is not going to well now. She did not return my calls or reply to my e-mail. I guess she is 100% faithul which is good. Thats just the way life is I guess- Hay muchas otras chicas en Colombia!
I also went out with a couple of girls from "A Foreign Affair" a few times. One was a blond 30 year old dentist from Medellin who is one of the sweetest girls that I have met. She works in Cartagena because she cannot find work in Medellin and she does not like the Colombian men in Cartagena. She said she has been out with a couple of them and they are all touchy feeley with her. I said to her that if she was living in England there is no way that she would be single! We were at the Cafe Del Mar and she asked me what my biggest fear in life was. I could not think of anything at that moment but she said that hers was being alone. I thought this is crazy, a girl that looks this good, who is intelegente and sweet coming out with this. She is a very sexy girl but not for me. I thought to myself if she lived in England she would be married with children by now! We went to Mr Babillas dancing and had a great time. She text and calls me all the time wanting to meet and even said she is going to learn English after work but she is just not my type physically but in other mens eyes she would be the one. I need to tell her I am moving on as I don´t like to keep people "hanging on". I am looking more for the darker latina look. You could say I am very "picky" in what I am looking for. She has to be beautiful inside and out. I picked her as a last minute replacement from the album in the agency as one of the girls I had chosen was in another city.
The other girl I went out with Kelly is 24 and divorced. Her husband cheated on her. I did like this girl but she works 6 days a week and has very little time to see me. I only got to see her in her lunch breaks. She is also very vein and would not let me take a photo of her from my phone or camera. The next day she gave me a CD with photos of her and her friends on a night out for me to look at when I was in an Internet Cafe. I said to her she was very vein and she agreed. She gets up at 5 and goes to bed at 9 and I know she has little time to see me but I dont think I can have a relationship with someone in there lunch breaks even if it is 2 hours! I said would you like to go to the cinema Saturday (she finishes earlier at 3:00PM on Saturdays) and she said maybe! I think that Kelly is not the kind of girl that is all over someone to begin with but warms up later on. I think she is a good person. Kelly also asked me how many citas I had. I said 5 and she said that was muchas! It´s a good job she does not know about the citas from the other agency and I will probally have a 100 more!!!! Maria from "A Foreign Affair" said that I am her first cita as she will not see guys over 35 so I guess I am lucky I had a few dates with her. The last day I was with Kelly, she told me a guy wanted a cita with her but she refused. He was 42 and apparently was not a happy bunny she would not see him. I sent Kelly an email explaining my reasons why I was leaving Cartagena.
I decided to move on to Barranquilla hoping I have made the right decision. I may of got to see Kelly more as time went on but I feel it is to early to get tied down to one girl just yet. I feel I need to meet many more. I´m hoping to find the one that "Rocks My World" and make me forget about the other girls!! I can always return to Cartagena as I will be in Colombia for at least 4 months.
