1) Sure you all saw in the news that Uribe was in Crawford, Texas today hobnobing with his US counterpart. What might not have been covered nationaly, but was mentioned localy was that The Colombian Organization of Dallas (might not be their EXACT name but that's what it boils down to) took advantage of the occasion to ask Bush to grant TPS status to Colombians.....no word yet on his reaction to that.
2) Mexico is having a problem with illegal immigration. You've heard that, right? But here's the twist, there was a story in one of yesterday's (Spanish language) newspapers that said that Mexico City is being overrun with prostitues. FOREIGN prostitutes, the article said they were from Honduras, Brazil, Costa Rica (didn't mention Colombia) and (of all places) the United States.
3) Speaking of prostitutes, some local (Dallas) politician/rich guy (who admits to having 'spent over a million dollars on the company of women during my lifetime') left his wife of 30 years to marry a Chinese woman. A Chinese woman with just a few 'slight' immigration problems, like a) overstayed her business visa b) a prostitution conviction in the US after she got here (in fact, he admits their first meeting was as her john) c) agreed to leave the US voluntarily d) came back to the US (illegaly this time) e) failed to show up at her deportation hearing f) has been granted 3 extensions, because she was pregnant, now the baby is like a month old. Naturally, they've they've hired some doctors who claim the baby is 'too ill to travel and can't be seperated from its mother'..yeah yeah, whatever---take the kid with you.....and the SOB has the NERVE to say that INS is 'picking on him' because he has a personal beef with the district director and threatens to go on a hunger strike.--Well, you know what? DON'T eat. Starve to death. See if we care.
